You can read what tyres are on your vehicle by following the diagram below:
If the tread depth of your tyre is below 1.6mm, you will need new tyres as it would be illegal to drive on them. If there is any metal cord, or excessive wear to the inside wall of the tyre, you will also need to replace the tyres on your vehicle.
We recommend you follow our five point checklist when you check your tyres:
1. Check tyre tread depth – If it is below 1.6mm, you are below the legal limit.
2. Check your tyre is at the correct pressure.
3. Ensure there is no irregular wear which could indicate incorrect wheel alignment.
4. Always remember to check the overall condition of the tyres, including the inner and outwer sidewalls.
5. Check that your spare tyre is safe and ready to use in case of an emergency.
Whether your tyre can be repaired depends on its condition. Unfortunately, if the tyre has run-flat damage, rubber deterioration, illegal tread depth, exposed cords, or bead or liner damage, it cannot be safely repaired. However, most punctures are repairable under the right circumstances.
If you’re unsure, don’t hesitate to give us a call. Our team is here to assess your tyre and provide expert advice to get you back on the road quickly and safely.

It’s common for tyres on older or more frequently used vehicles to wear out faster than the original set. This is often due to the natural wear and tear on key components of your car, such as the ball joints, CV joints, suspension, and wheel alignment. Over time, these parts may become slightly misaligned or worn, creating additional friction and uneven wear on your tyres.
This process is a normal part of a car’s aging, and it doesn’t necessarily indicate anything is wrong. However, if you notice a significant difference in tyre lifespan, it’s a good idea to have your vehicle checked by a professional. Alternatively, give us a call, and we can inspect your wheels and tyres to ensure everything is in optimal condition.
A very common way of realising is, when driving at high speeds, your vehicle may vibrate, which can be felt in the seats and/or steering wheel.
Unbalanced wheels can affect the ride comfort, as well as decrease the lifespan of your tyres dramatically. It is more cost effective to have balanced wheels, and not have to keep replacing your tyres.
Wheel alignment is a standard part of vehicle maintenance and consists of adjusting the angles of the front wheels so that they are set to the specification laid out by car manufacturers. The purpose of these adjustments is to ensure that vehicle travel is straight and true when driving along a straight and level road, and to maximise tyre life.
Wheel alignment is often mistaken for wheel balancing, but they address different issues. If you notice uneven wear on your tyres, it’s a strong indicator that your wheels may not be properly aligned.
Other signs include your vehicle pulling to one side while driving, excessive or unusual squeaking from the tyres, or tyres wearing out much faster than expected. If you experience any of these issues, it’s worth having your wheel alignment checked to prevent further wear and improve your vehicle’s handling.
Your wheel alignment should be checked if you suspect that your alignment is wrong. As well as this, every 15,000 miles, or at your vehicle service interval, once a year or if you have recently hit a kerb or pothole and you feel it may have affected the alignment.
