Tyres

What tyres do I need?

You can read what tyres are on your vehicle by following the diagram below:

How do I know if I need new tyres?

If the tread depth of your tyre is below 1.6mm, you will need new tyres. If you do drive on these tyres, it is illegal. If there is any metal cord, or excessive wear to the inside wall of the tyre, you will also need to replace the tyres on your vehicle.

What should I look for when checking my tyres?

We recommend you follow our five point checklist when you check your tyres:
1. Check tyre tread depth – If it is below 1.6mm, you are below the legal limit.
2. Check your tyre is at the correct pressure.
3. Ensure there is no irregular wear which could indicate incorrect wheel alignment.
4. Always remember to check the overall condition of the tyres, including the inner and outwer sidewalls.
5. Check that your spare tyre is safe and ready to use in case of an emergency.

Can my puncture be repaired?

If the tyre shows signs of run flat damage, the rubber is deteriorated, there is illegal tread depth, exposed cords, and/or bead or liner damage, your tyre cannot be repaired. However, most tyres can be repaired. If you are unsure, feel free to give us a call.

Can you fit or repair my tyre from anywhere?

We pride ourselves on our great customer service for our mobile tyre repairs and fittings. We will bring the tyre depot to your front door, work place or any other location you desire.

Why do my new tyres not last as long as my first set of tyres?

It is not uncommon that as your car gets older, or you use it more, later sets of tyres will wear out more quickly. The reason for this is that the every day wear and tear on your vehicles ball joints, CV joints, alignment and your suspension causes more friction on your tyres as they are no longer optimally set up. There is likely nothing wrong with your car, as this naturally happens over time. However, if you are noticing a notable difference, you may want to get your car checked by a garage, or give us a call to check your wheels and tyres.

Wheel balancing

How can I tell if my wheels are out of balance?

When driving at high speeds, your vehicle may vibrate, which can be felt in the seats and/or steering wheel.

Why do I need my wheels balanced?

Unbalanced wheels can affect the ride comfort, as well as decrease the lifespan of your tyres dramatically. It is more cost effective to have balanced wheels, and not have to keep replacing your tyres.

Wheel alignment

What is Wheel Alignment and why may I need it?

Wheel alignment is a standard part of vehicle mainenance and consists of adjusting the angles of the front wheels so that they are set to the specification laid out by car manufacturers. The purpose of these adjustments is to ensure that vehicle travel is straight and true when driving along a straight and level road, and to maximise tyre life.

How can I tell if I need my wheels aligned?

Wheel alignment is often confused with balancing. If there is uneven wear on your tyres, it may be a sign of your wheels not being properly aligned. As well as this, if your vehicle pulls to the left or right, tyres often squeak or your tyres wear out very fast, you should consider investigating your wheel alignment.

How often should I have my wheel alignment checked?

Your wheel alignment should be checked if you suspect that your alignment is wrong. As well as this, every 15,000 miles, or at your vehicle service interval, once a year or if you have recently hit a kerb or pothole and you feel it may have affected the alignment. If you are unsure, get in touch with us for our expert advice.

How can I tell if I need a new battery?

If your vehicles electronics are not working, or your vehicle is not turning over, it is likely that your battery needs replacing. This is common in the winter months, or after a vehicle has been sitting for an extended amount of time and has not been started.
